Parsons Odebrecht Joint Venture
General Contractors
Working on huge projects is nothing new to Parsons or Odebrecht construction companies. Both companies rank among the largest and most successful construction companies in the world. But after their joint venture won the bid on the North Terminal Expansion for Miami International Airport, they began looking for ways to streamline the paperwork to satisfy the contract requirements of the project. They turned to Digital Business Integration (DBI) to help them optimize their weekly payroll process and provide a secure and robust solution for processing and documenting job cost payroll data.
While working on the South Terminal Expansion, Parsons Odebrecht Joint Venture experienced the difficulty of managing timecards that were created in excel but then faxed or emailed in for a second entry. “After working on the South Terminal Expansion we knew we needed to streamline the process for the North Terminal Project,” said Colette Bashir, Odebrecht USA's Information Systems Manager. “We were wasting valuable time doing double entry.”
For this new project, both companies had to coordinate their activities and share the burden of management across multiple locations. They were required to job cost each employee's time, have it approved by multiple levels of management and finally have the employee's signature applied before importing into Timberline Accounting. Strict documentation of who entered and who approved the time was critical.
“Remote time entry was key since we are geographically separated from each other and our Timberline server,” Colette continues. “We needed a method that would allow remote access and seamless integration with Timberline.”
Now that Parsons Odebrecht Joint Venture uses DBI's hh2 Remote Payroll service, time entry is quick, easy, and always available to employees no matter where they are. Employees enter their time directly and it can then be approved or denied by their superiors allowing the employee to fix their own time if there is a problem. On demand reporting allows for easy access to critical decision making information and data dumps allow the entire process to be audited or archived if necessary. They were able to satisfy the requirements of their contract and save valuable time and resources in the process.
“We have used hh2 Remote Payroll for over a year now and we found it simple to implement and training our people to use it was easy,” concludes Colette. “And in all that time, we have never experienced any downtime. It was always available.”
